Exterior cleaning in Wembury
Wembury sits on the coast path looking out to the Mewstone, and it is one of the most exposed places we cover. The housing is mainly seafront bungalows, 1960s detached houses and modern coastal builds, with painted render or pebbledash under concrete tile.
Exposure changes the job. Salt wind scours the walls and dries them quickly, so you see less of the heavy green growth found on sheltered estates and more lichen, salt bloom and weathered paint.
Roofs above the cliff line
Exposed roofs here lose moss to the wind but gain lichen, which grips harder and looks worse on a light concrete tile. It responds to treatment, but it takes longer to weather off than moss does.
Painted render facing the sea
On painted render the aim is to clean without stripping the coating. A low-pressure softwash lifts the growth and grime and leaves the paint in place, which matters on a finish that is already working hard against the weather.
Pebbledash is treated the same way. Pressure can knock stones loose, so we let the solution do the work and rinse gently.
Patios and paths on sea-facing plots get slippery quickly once algae takes hold. We clean them with a flat-surface rotary cleaner and can follow up with a treatment to slow regrowth.
Questions from Wembury
- How often will a sea-facing wall need doing?
- More often than an inland one. Exposure and salt both shorten the interval; we will give you an honest estimate for your elevation.
- Will cleaning damage my painted render?
- Not with softwashing. It is low pressure and designed to clean painted and rendered finishes without stripping them.
