Building a yearly exterior maintenance routine
Most exterior problems are cheaper to prevent than to correct, and the difference is usually just doing things in the right order at the right time of year rather than doing more of them.
Ask us about this
Monday to Saturday, 8am – 7pm
- Gutters yearly, after the leaves have gone
- Work top down within any single visit
- Let condition, not the calendar, trigger wall and roof work
Annual, biennial and longer
Gutter clearance is genuinely annual for most houses. Glass is a rolling job at whatever interval suits you. Wall softwash and hard-surface washing sit on a multi-year cycle driven by shade and exposure, and roof work longer still.
Sequencing through the year
Gutters after leaf fall. Hard surfaces in the drier part of the year so they can dry and be re-sanded. Wall work in settled weather. Roof work when there is a run of dry days, which in the South West means planning with some flexibility.
Always work top down
Anything done above undoes work done below. Roof, then gutters, then walls, then hard surfaces, then glass. Booking out of that order is the most common reason people feel a clean did not last.
Common questions
- Can jobs be combined into one visit?
- Yes, and it usually works out better because the sequencing is handled in one go.
- Do you send reminders?
- We can get in touch when the next interval comes round rather than leaving you to remember.
- What if I only want one job a year?
- Gutters would be the one to keep, because a blocked run causes damage the others do not.
