Run-off has to be thought about first
Anything applied to the slope above an array will flow across the panels. That governs what gets used and how the slope is worked, and it is a good reason to treat the areas above the array with more care than a bare roof.
Moss around the edges
The gap between panel and tile is sheltered and stays damp, so moss tends to build along the lower edge of an array and at the fixing rails. It is also the part most likely to shed into the gutter.
What we will not touch
Panel surfaces, fixings, brackets and cabling are the installer's territory. We work the tiles and the surrounding slope and leave anything attached to the array alone.

- Can you clean the panels themselves?
- We focus on the roof covering. Panel washing is usually best handled by whoever maintains the array.
- Will the treatment harm the panels?
- We plan the work so the array is not the run-off path for anything applied above it, and rinse accordingly.
- Do gutters still need clearing?
- More so, because moss shed from around the array collects in the run below.
