After a heavy South West blow, most of the useful checks can be done from the garden with a pair of binoculars and ten minutes. The point is spotting the small failures before the next storm turns them into big ones.
From the ground
Look along the ridge line for displaced tiles, check the gutter line for sag or debris hanging over the lip, and look for fresh grit or mortar fragments on the ground below - that is roof material that has moved.

Downpipes and drains
Storms wash roof debris straight into the outlet. Run a hose into the gutter and watch the base of the downpipe; if flow is weak, the run is holding water.
