Surface and condition
Block paving with silted joints takes far longer than sound concrete of the same area, because the joints have to be cleared to depth and refilled afterwards.

Joint work and sealing
Re-sanding is normal on block paving. Sealing is optional, adds material and drying time, and is only worth it on a sound surface.
Run-off, slope and drainage
A sloping drive that discharges towards a garage or a neighbour needs the water managed, which takes time. It is planned in rather than discovered halfway through.
