Exterior cleaning by property type

Houses built in different decades fail in different places. A 1900s terrace has lime mortar, sash reveals and a shared gutter run; a 2015 estate house has silicone render, a shallow-pitch concrete tile roof and a block drive. Working out the order of work from the age and build of the property is most of the job.

By style and age of house

What changes with the building

  • Access dictates sequence. Terraces and town-centre properties are often worked from the front and rear only, so scheduling matters more than method.
  • Roof pitch and covering decide whether roof work is treatment from a safe position or clearance work.
  • Rural and coastal properties collect different growth from city ones, so the same house type is not treated identically in Yelverton and in Devonport.
